Import Alert

Import alerts notify the FDA’s field staff and the public that there is sufficient evidence to allow for Detention Without Physical Examination (DWPE) of products suspected of violating FDA laws and regulations. These violations could pertain to the product, manufacturer, shipper, or other factors. Importers should be aware if their products are subject to DWPE before importing into the United States, as DWPE permits the agency to detain a product without physically examining it at entry.
